Supersized Sailing Sloop Yacht PROJECT 410

For many, sailing is the ultimate expression of personal freedom. Royal Huisman has built a colossally-sized 280-foot sailing yacht that will enable its new owners to enjoy freedom with enhanced comfort levels thanks to hoisting sails that cut through waves. Its large hull provides increased stability in the water. And since there is more space on board for more crew and fuel, the new owner can benefit from an extended range.

The impressive 200-foot (61-meter) aluminum hull was wheeled out of the Royal Huisman shipyard's construction hall in Vollenhove, The Netherlands. Four cranes hoisted and turned this masterpiece over the adjacent canal in one seamless maneuver. The hull will be placed on a cradle and deployed into Hall 2, where it will undergo the final stages of completion, fitted with onboard systems, outfitting, and the bow section, will be attached to the main hull.

Sister company, Rondal will be responsible for all of the yacht's sailing systems including a lightweight carbon boom and mast. Netherlands-based superyacht designer Wetzels Brown has been appointed to carry out the interiors.

The yacht's brief appearance revealed two vast decks of immense scale dedicated to accommodation. The energy-neutral mode generates sufficient power for all systems and recharges batteries for silent anchoring, a feature pioneered by the Dutch shipyard nearly two decades ago before building the world's first hybrid superyacht.

If you're a motoryacht boater and still getting to grips with different sailing boat terms, the best way of defining a sloop, is a sailing yacht with one headsail. Whereas a cutter is characterized by two or more. Most sailing vessels are classed as sloops or cutters.

Royal Huisman's portfolio of projects includes four of the world's ten largest sailing yachts: Athena, Sea Eagle, and now, Project 410. A second supersized sailing yacht currently under construction in Vollenhove will join the top 10 upon delivery. The Dutch shipyard is proud to build the world's largest sailing yachts since they benefit from a greener footprint than motor yachts.
